How many years of marketing experience do you have?
5

What makes for the perfect marketing campaign?
Invoking a story that resonates with people: something positive and hopeful. A good example would be Ram’s “Farmer” Super Bowl commercial from 2013.

What are your top social media platforms for personal use? Which do you recommend for businesses?
The media platforms I use the most are Twitter and Instagram. For business use, it depends on who your target audience is. Facebook’s primary users have shifted to older demographics, while Instagram has continued to be dominated by younger communities.

What is a little-known fact about you?
I’m a regular blood donor.

Most people collect something. What do you collect?
Books, and Criterion DVDs.

What did you want to be when you were young?
A Power Ranger, or Batman.

Three things you can’t live without?
Pizza, Tacos, and Frasier.

What brand or organization would be your dream client and why?
Criterion Collection, because they help make classic films accessible for contemporary audiences.

What marketing campaign over the past 1-2 years has made an impression on you?
Nike’s “Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything” with Colin Kaepernick.

Favorite logo (that you didn’t design)? And why?
Sega logo, because I grew up playing the Genesis and in each game, the logo would have some interaction with the characters or music. It seems mundane, but it showed versatility and playfulness can be used effectively to bring life to a corporate identity.

What design sin makes you cringe the most?
More production than design sin, but I’ve seen FINAL-art-version7.jpg too many times.

What do you enjoy about the designer’s life?
Seeing your work produced and used out in the world.

Why should brands invest in great design?
It allows them to expand their audience by communicating who they are and what they represent.
